Isaiah 40:28-31 gives us
the secret to being renewed.
28. Have you not known?
Have you not heard, the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the
ends of the earth, does not faint nor is weary? There is no
searching of His understanding.
- He gives power to the faint and to those who have no might He increases strength
- Even the youths will faint and be weary and the young men will utterly stumble
- but they that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings as eagles they will run and not be weary. They will walk and not grow faint.God does not grow weary and does not faint. Man fails under the pressures of life, but God does not.
He gives power to the
faint. That empowerment is to the whole frame of the body and He
increases their strength.
vs. 31 gives us the key.
It is to those that WAIT upon the Lord. That word wait means to
trust God, to keep on trusting and hoping, even in the midst of
trials and tribulation and then spending time in the presence of God.
It is not just sitting in church listening to a sermon with someone
else doing the waiting for you. It doesn't work that way.
Where it says He renews
our strength it means putting on fresh strength and a different
strength than man's natural strength when you wait or spend time
communing and in the presence of God. This is not your own
strength but a
supernatural infusion of God's strength within our human frame.
The natural man is not
like God, but the believer has unwavering, unfailing strength as the
divine strength of God enters into him through communion with God.
He finds inner resources that do NOT fail before life's demands. He
doesn't faint, grow weary or become tired. His faith is fixed on God
and draws upon God's resources through the Holy Spirit. God's
strength and power are a constant resource available to us as we draw
nigh to God. Psalm 91 also reiterates this as it opens by stating,
“He that abides or dwells in the shadow or the secret place of the
Most High, shall say of the Lord. It then goes on to tell you the
benefits of abiding in the presence of God. The provision of Psalm
91 is not for just any one or any believer. It is for the believer
that will take the time to commune with Almighty God and set his love
on God. You spend your time on what you love. I have known many
golfers and they are consumed with spending time on the golf course
because they love playing golf. Are you consumed with spending time
alone with God and waiting on Him? The benefits are beyond listing
in this short amount of time. Psalm 103:2 also lists several
benefits that come from God. The end of the verse states your youth
is renewed like the eagles. Even Jesus, the sinless son of God,
would daily get away and spend time with His Father to gain direction
and strength.
Why not make a commitment
to start spending time with God and lean upon His chest to hear His
heart beat? The cares of the world and our fast paced society crowd
in to take us away from the presence of God. By spending time each
day in the presence of God you will find renewed strength, vigor,
and spiritual insight. Plug into the power source of life.
